Shiraz Club-Di Giorgio of Coonawarra at Spicer's Tamarind
Stefano DiGiorgio emigrated from Abruzzo, Italy, in 1952. Over the years, he and his family gradually expanded their holdings at Lucindale to 126ha. In '89 he began planting cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, merlot, shiraz and pinot noir. In 2002 the family purchased the historic Rouge Homme winery and its surrounding 13.5ha of vines from Southcorp. The plantings have since been increased to almost 230ha, the lion's share to cabernet sauvignon.
Made by Peter Douglas, Dubbed 'Mr Wynns', Peter gained invaluable experience in the late 80's working in several vintages in Bordeaux with Chateau Leoville Barton and following his long tenure at Wynns Coonawarra Estate, turned his hand to Napa Valley in California, making wine for the Constellation Wine group. He also worked on Lindemans' Coonawarra wines and some of the Penfolds Bin range.
The dinner will hosted by Anna Di Giorgio the Brand ambassador.
